Operation Amotekun: Police Barricade Protest Venue in Lagos

Policemen have barricaded the Lagos venue of a planned protest against the declaration of Operation Amotekun as illegal by the Federal Government.

The policemen also reportedly dispersed protesters who had earlier gathered at the venue.

The protest, which was billed to hold at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, today was organised by the Yoruba World Congress, led by renowned historian and Yoruba leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye.

It was tagged as “Amotekun Solidarity Walk”.

NewsmakersNG learnt that over 20 police vans with armed policemen have taken over the park.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had in a statement, described the Western Nigeria Security Network, established by the South West governors and codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun’ as illegal.
