There was palpable fear in Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, yesterday, as many were reportedly feared dead in a clash between Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Amotekun, police personnel attached to the state government’s anti-crime outfit codenamed Operation Burst, a vigilance group, Soludero, and a group of herdsmen.

Newsmakerslive.org learned that a group of herdsmen had invaded a farm in the community with their cattle and grazed on it.

An altercation subsequently ensured between the herdsmen and the owner of the farm, which reportedly led to the latter’s demise.

It further gathered that a combined team of security operatives, comprising OPC, Operation Burst, Amotekun and Soludero, sent to restore peace in the area were also allegedly ambushed by herdsmen.

The number of those killed is yet to be ascertained.
