One Held, as Police Seize Houses from Suspected Kidnappers

Two houses built in Ogun State by suspected kidnappers have been sealed, and one man arrested for the recent abduction and killing at Isheri, in Lagos, police authorities announced today.

According to police spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the houses suspected to have been built with ransom money were found at Century Village, Ogijo, in Ogun State.

Describing the arrested man as a “principal suspect in the kidnap of secretary of Isheri North Estate Landlord Association and that of the Turkish school children and members of staff in Ogun”, Moshood said that the police were on the trail of another gang member known as Chairman.

A statement signed by Moshood claims that the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in synergy with Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) trailed and arrested a 38-year-old Joseph Omoni, a native of Ajagba community, Ese Odo LGA of Ondo State in Century village, at Ogijo Town of Ogun State.

The suspect allegedly volunteered confessional statement indicating the level of his involvement and the leading role he played in the kidnap of Secretary of Isheri Estate Landlord Association, where three private security men were killed.

He was arrested on February 14.

Moshood’s statement says, “The suspect confessed further to the kidnap/assassination attack on Ikorodu-Mile 12 Road on 19/12/2016 where Aisha Ali Balogun and one other were killed. He also admitted to have participated actively as a gang member in the kidnap of Turkish School children and members of the staff in Ogun State recently…

“Investigation is being intensified to arrest the remaining members of the gang who are still at large. The suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.”
