CNN award-winning journalist and Queen of Apomu Kingdom, Olori Janet Afolabi, has been honoured with the International Philanthropy Award for her outstanding humanitarian service and innovative food-distribution initiatives across rural and vulnerable communities in Western Nigeria.
The World Women Organisation (WWO), organisers of the award, said the recognition was “in appreciation of your philanthropy and contributions to innovative food distribution in rural areas and vulnerable communities in Western Nigeria. The award committee has unanimously selected you as a recipient of the International Philanthropy Award. This award is to honour and celebrate your humanity and spirit of generosity.”
The honour was presented during the Inauguration Ceremony of the World Women Organisation, Nigerian Chapter, where Olori Afolabi featured as a Special Guest and award recipient.
Held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the ceremony attracted distinguished women leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from diverse sectors who gathered to celebrate the power of unity, collaboration, and strategic partnerships in advancing women’s empowerment and economic inclusion.
The World Women Organisation is a global movement where women “speak to, for, and with women” to address challenges that limit progress while empowering them to assume leadership roles in their communities, nations, and the world at large.
The organisation currently operates in 61 countries, with its global headquarters in Maryland, United States of America.
