The Lagos State Taskforce yesterday ramped up enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okada, across major highways and restricted routes in the state.
According to the Lagos State police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation, which commenced at 11:00 AM, covered key areas, including Berger Suya, Kirikiri Road, 2nd Rainbow Bridge, and Apple Junction leading into Festac. A total of 79 commercial motorcycles were impounded during the exercise.
While the enforcement was largely peaceful, a minor resistance was recorded at Berger Suya. However, the task force swiftly subdued the situation with minimal force and tactical superiority.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring compliance with the Okada ban, emphasizing that all operations are carried out with professionalism and civility to maintain law and order across Lagos State.
