Four suspected members of a gang of highway robbers have been arrested by the police in Ogun State.
According to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu, the bandits were coming from Lagos to operate along the highway in Sagamu.
The state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told Newsmakersng in a statement that the bandits were found to have been terrorizing commuters at the Sagamu interchange axis of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. He said, “The four suspects were apprehended while robbing their victims on the night of May 6, 2017.
“Distress call was made to the Police, and the DPO at Sagamu, SP Moses Aduroja, led his anti–robbery team to the scene where the four suspects were promptly arrested.”
The suspects were identified as: 21-year-old Sulaiman Fatai; Ayobami Alao, 21; Yusuf Sodiq, 20, and Emmanuel Adeleke, 18.
Weapons allegedly recovered from them included cutlasses, iron rod, and knife.
“The suspects who have made confessional statement claimed to come from Oshodi in Lagos to carry out operation in Sagamu interchange,” Oyeyemi said.
He added that the CP had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to FSARS for discrete investigation and possible prosecution.
