The police in Ogun have intensified security operations across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, with Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni assuring residents of a peaceful and hitch-free festive season.

The Command said it had strengthened proactive policing measures by deploying personnel and operational assets to strategic locations, including Eid prayer grounds, highways, markets, motor parks, recreational centres and residential communities across the state.

According to the Command, the deployment is designed to ensure visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection and rapid response to any security challenge that may arise before, during and after the celebrations.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders have been placed on red alert as part of efforts to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.

The statement noted that officers had been directed to sustain aggressive patrols and stop-and-search operations where necessary, while ensuring constant supervision of personnel within their jurisdictions.

The police also said collaboration had been strengthened with community leaders, transport unions and other stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering and prevent criminal activities during the celebration.

“The Command appeals to residents to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious throughout the season,” the statement said.

Parents and guardians were specifically advised to monitor the activities and movement of their children and wards, while residents were warned against acts capable of breaching public peace, including thuggery, cult-related violence, reckless driving and other forms of disorderly conduct.

CP Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across Ogun State, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation.

The Command also released its emergency contact lines for distress calls during the celebration period.
