The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Lanre Ogunlowo, today received members of the Nigerian Cancer Society, Ogun State Chapter, on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The delegation, led by its Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Lateef Salako, used the visit to sensitise the Commissioner of Police and members of the Command’s Management Team on cancer awareness, preventive strategies, and the critical importance of early detection in reducing cancer-related deaths.
Addressing the gathering, the team emphasised the need for increased public education on lifestyle choices, routine medical checks, and prompt medical attention, noting that early diagnosis remains one of the most effective tools in the fight against cancer.

In his response, CP Ogunlowo expressed appreciation for the visit and the hand of fellowship extended to the Command, describing the engagement as timely and impactful. He noted that the initiative would significantly promote health consciousness and preventive care not only among police officers but also within the wider public the Command serves.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to initiatives that enhance the welfare and well-being of officers and residents of Ogun State, adding that security and public health are closely linked in building a safe and productive society.
The visit ended with a call for sustained collaboration between the Police Command and health-focused organisations to deepen awareness campaigns across the state.
