The police in Ogun have recovered army uniforms from a suspected robber, who was allegedly operating in the Mowe area of the state.
According to Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the 23-year-old suspect, Adeoye Ayomide, was arrested at about 8 pm on September 25, along Ofada Road, in Mowe.
Oyeyemi told NewsmakersNG in a statement that the gang had earlier robbed one Adeyemo Adegboyega a retired army officer of N86, 000 on September 13 using a broken bottle.
Oyeyemi stated: “The incident was reported at Mowe Divisional Headquarters, consequent upon which the DPO, CSP Francis Ebuhoma, detailed his operatives to be on the trail of the hoodlums.
“Their efforts paid off on Tuesday when the operatives received information that the gang was sighted around Mowe area. Upon the information, the operatives swiftly moved into action, chased the gang and subsequently got one of them who dressed in fake army uniform arrested. A search warrant was duly executed in his house where more fake army uniforms were recovered.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to FSARS for discreet investigation and arrest of other members of the gang.”
