Ogun Gov Slammed for Wrong Photo Selection in Twitter Response to Tinubu Humiliation

Femi Ashekun/

Tweeps have faulted the choice of photograph by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State in a Twitter post that appeared to be a response to yesterday’s humiliation he suffered from former Lagos State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Abiodun had tweeted, “I am not an emperor by any chance and this is not my family inheritance.

“I am holding this position in trust for all the people of this state and I have vowed to be fair, just and equitable and this is the solemn agreement I made between the Almighty God and myself.”

But the photography accompanying the tweet shows the governor standing at an event with two aides fanning him with rechargeable fans from behind.

Several commentators pointed to the fact that the choice of photo clearly contradicted the picture the governor was trying to paint, as it depicted him more like an emperor than not.

The governor’s comment was an apparent shade at Tinubu, who said in Abeokuta, yesterday, at a meeting with Ogun State APC delegates to this weekend’s presidential primary, that Abiodun would never have been governor but for his benevolence.

Tinubu had also insisted that he has to be the next President of Nigeria.

“This one sitting behind me, Dapo, can he say he could have become a governor but for me?” Tinubu said while pointing at Abiodun.

The governor did not respond at the event, but he appeared visibly humiliated.

Before and after humiliating the governor, Tinubu also claimed credit for making Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo President and Vice President respectively in 2015
