Police authorities have confirmed the arrest of an Inspector who extorted N5,000 bribe via online transfer from a female actor in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The victim, Adegoke Ifeoluwa, tweeted about her experience with her companions, who were accosted by officers of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) on their way to Ikorodu, for a movie shoot, on Wednesday.

She narrated how one Inspector Olushola Charles Omotosho, attached to FSARS, Ikorodu, and his colleagues had harassed her and some people with her, and threatened to “waste” everyone should she fail to give them money.

The lady said she told the officers she didn’t have cash and could only do online transfer.

Omotosho then provided his account details and after confirming receipt of the money, they let off the lady and her companions.

Afterwards, the lady tagged the officer in charge of the Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit of the police, ACP Yomi Shogunle, in a tweet, in which she narrated her experience.

Her tweet reads: “With my encounter today, it’s safe to say SARS are armed robbers. Was going for a shoot in Ikorodu today & armed members of SARS pulled us over & made us pay for no reason. Threatening they were gon waste our lives. I made a transfer so they can be traced. @YomiShogunle.”

Her tweet was immediately acknowledged by Shogunle, who provided her with a number, #PCRRU316356, with which she could track the progress of work on her complaint.

Then, today, Shogunle tweeted at the victim that the offending police officer has been identified and arrested pending further action on the matter.

Shogunle’s tweet reads: “My Dearest @ife_luv12, I am glad to inform you that account owner has been identified – Inspector Charles Omotosho, FSARS Ikorodu, Lagos. He is under custody, preliminary investigation ongoing. PCRRU will inform you on next line of action. Sorry for the experience. #PCRRU316356.”
