A distinguished gathering of political leaders, media executives, regulators and academia is expected in Abuja as organisers of the public presentation of Journalism NeXt: A Comprehensive Guide to Modern Journalism confirm a high-profile guest list for the event.
The book, authored by the Editor of TheNewsGuru (TNG), Ediri Oyibo, will be formally unveiled on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Utako, Abuja, by 2pm.
Leading the list of eminent guests is the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who will attend as Special Guest of Honour.
Former Governor of Edo State and two-term Senator, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, is billed to serve as Chairman of the Occasion.
The book will be reviewed by Dr. Lemmy Ughegbe, Founder and Executive Director of the Make A Difference Initiative (MADI), in what organisers describe as a critical assessment of contemporary journalism practice in Nigeria.
The event will also feature a presentation of research findings by the author on the evolving state of journalism in Nigeria, with particular focus on the challenges confronting journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including working conditions, press freedom concerns, and the impact of digital transformation.
Other notable guests expected at the launch include Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central), Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (Delta South), Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North), Hon. Benedict Etanabene, Member representing Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, and Mr. Mideno Bayagbon, Publisher of TNG.
Also expected are Dr. Dili Ezughah, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Press Council (NPC); Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); and Comr. Alhassan Yahya Abdul, National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), among other industry stakeholders.
According to organisers, Journalism NeXt provides an in-depth exploration of the transformation of journalism in the digital age. It examines media ethics, innovation, sustainability, and the changing responsibilities of journalists within a fast-evolving global information ecosystem.
They added that the launch is expected to attract journalists, media entrepreneurs, academics, policymakers, students and members of the public, offering a platform for professional engagement, knowledge exchange and networking within the media industry.
