Obi Wins Labour Party Presidential Ticket, as Utomi Steps Down

Matilda Omonaiye/

Peter Obi has been declared the winner of the presidential primary election of the Labour Party.

The declaration was made in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where the party held its presidential primaries, today.

This followed the decision of Obi’s major challenger, Prof. Pat Utomi, to step down for him.

Utomi, who addressed the delegates to the primaries, said the time had come to change the country.

He eulogised Obi as one with the capacity to bring the needed change, promising to bring other political parties into the Labour Party.
