An invitation circulated by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) indicates that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may formally join the party today.

The invite, shared with journalists via the party’s media WhatsApp platform, states that the declaration is scheduled to take place by 2pm in Abuja.

Both men are expected to be received by the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and members of the National Working Committee.

Party insiders have described the planned event as part of a broader effort to consolidate opposition figures under a single platform, amid ongoing realignments across the political space.

However, as at press time, there has been no direct confirmation from Obi or Kwankwaso, or their respective media teams, confirming their attendance or defection to the NDC.

The development comes against the backdrop of lingering uncertainty within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where internal disputes and legal questions have raised concerns about the party’s readiness for the next electoral cycle.

Both Obi and Kwankwaso remain influential figures with established political structures and regional followings, making any potential move closely watched within Nigeria’s evolving opposition dynamics.

If confirmed, their alignment with the NDC could reshape coalition calculations ahead of 2027, particularly as parties intensify consultations and positioning in anticipation of key timelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
