Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo, the wife of former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is set to lead eminent personalities to the 3rd edition of the Penpushing Media Anniversary lecture on July 19, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Addressing journalists in Ogun State, the Chairman Planning Committee for the anniversary, Mr Sina Adefolahan disclosed that Mrs Obasanjo is the Chairman of the occasion, while the guest lecturer for the event is former Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Prof Yemisi Obilade, who is speaking on the theme, ’The Nigerian State, Political Evolution and Multiparty Democracy: Education to the Rescue’.
He said the anniversary; the third in the series will start 9.30am at the Marque Events Centre, within the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta. He added that some dignitaries within and outside the country would be in attendance.
According to Adefolahan, the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is the Chief Host, while former President Obasanjo and former Governor Olusegun Osoba are fathers of the day, with the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson as the Mother of the Day.
The Committee boss said the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe, who was the guest lecturer at the maiden edition, and Country Director, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Ronald Kayanja, who was the Guest Speaker at the second edition had also signified interest to attend the ceremony.
He said the Akinale of Akinale of Owu Kingdom, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, who was the Royal Father of the maiden edition and the Olota of Ota/Aworiland, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, who was the Royal father for the second edition had also confirmed their attendance.
The Chairman added that former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former member House of Representatives, Chief Bode Mustapha; former Minister, Sarafa Ishola; former Military Administrators, Daniel Akintonde, Kayode Olofinmoyin, Aare Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams; former Deputy Governor Salimot Badru, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, former spokesman of Senate President, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu are also expected at the event.
Adefolahan also disclosed that the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chris Isiquzo, and the National Secretary, Shuaib Usman Liman will be in attendance. The panel of discussants at the ceremony include Mr Owolabi Oladejo (Moderator), with Apostle Lawrence Achudume and Gbenga Gbesan as panellists.
The Chairman said members of the Communiqué Drafting Committee include Abdussobur Salaam, Olawale Jokotoye, Ayo Arowojolu and Adeshina Adekanmbi, while the comperes for the event are: Victor Mark of Okin F.M, Offa, Kogi State; Samson Akindele of Fresh FM, and Seun Davies of Smash FM.
The Planning Committee Chairman said that some higher institutions, corporate bodies, agencies, trade unions and professional bodies were also invited.
