The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced plans to convene the seventh edition of its Public Relations Clinic, with a strong focus on strengthening the security and safety of schools across the state.
The event, scheduled for July 15, 2026, in Lagos, will bring together government officials, security experts, education stakeholders, labour leaders, community representatives, development partners, students and pupils to deliberate on practical measures for safeguarding schools and learning environments.
Themed “Security and Safety of Schools in Lagos State: The Roles of Government, NSCDC and Stakeholders,” the forum is expected to provide a platform for robust discussions on emerging security challenges affecting schools and strategies for building safer educational institutions.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC Lagos Command, Mr. Adedotun Sunday Keshinro, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, underscoring the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national assets, including educational institutions.
Leading the discussions will be Professor Waziri Adisa, a criminology expert from the Department of Sociology, University of Lagos, who will deliver the keynote presentation on school security and stakeholder responsibilities.
Also billed to speak is Dr. Cynthia Gregg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Safety Signatures Limited and Gulf Flower Schools, who is expected to provide perspectives on safety management and best practices within educational institutions.
The event will also feature contributions from Comrade Akintoye Hassan, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Lagos State, alongside representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, security and safety agencies, host community leaders, non-governmental organisations and development partners.
Organisers said the clinic would include technical sessions and presentations aimed at fostering collaboration among stakeholders in addressing threats to schools and enhancing emergency preparedness, crisis response and preventive security measures.
The NSCDC noted that the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts by security agencies and government institutions to ensure that schools remain safe spaces for teaching and learning amid evolving security concerns nationwide.
The programme, convened by the Lagos State Civil Defence Public Relations Unit under the leadership of SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, will hold at the Conference Hall of the Federal Ministry of Works, Obalende, Lagos, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Stakeholders are expected to use the forum to develop actionable recommendations that will strengthen school protection mechanisms and promote a safer educational environment across Lagos State.
