The National Planning Commission has hosted representatives of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in a strategic engagement ahead of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48 study visit to Botswana, with discussions centering on harnessing Nigeria’s “Orange Economy” for sustainable national development.

The high-level meeting focused on the 2026 study theme, “Orange Economy and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities,” underscoring the growing importance of the creative and cultural industries as drivers of economic growth, innovation and regional cooperation across Africa.

During the engagement, both institutions emphasized the need for stronger collaboration, policy innovation and knowledge exchange to unlock opportunities within Nigeria’s expanding creative sector, which includes entertainment, arts, culture, media, fashion and digital innovation.

Officials described the partnership between the National Planning Commission and NIPSS as a strategic step toward deepening regional partnerships and sharing valuable development insights capable of boosting economic transformation and sustainable policy formulation on the continent.

The planned Botswana study visit by participants of SEC 48 is expected to expose delegates to best practices and practical models that can help Nigeria maximize the economic potential of its creative ecosystem while addressing existing policy and structural challenges.

Stakeholders at the meeting also stressed that the Orange Economy remains a critical frontier for job creation, youth empowerment and inclusive economic development in Africa’s rapidly evolving knowledge-driven economy.
