Abubakar Usman, popularly known as ‘Siddi’ and recently spotted in a viral video flaunting firearms and large sums of cash on social media, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force alongside another notorious kidnapping kingpin in Kwara State.
The arrests were made on December 19, when operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT), in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command, intercepted the suspects along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area.
Siddi, 26, and 30-year-old Shehu Mohammadu, alias ‘Gide’, were apprehended in Komen–Masallaci village.
Police recovered a red Honda Ace 125 motorcycle valued at N1.85 million, N500,000 in unspent ransom money, and an AK-47 rifle with 20 rounds of live ammunition.
Investigations revealed the motorcycle was purchased with proceeds from ransom payments.
Both men are linked to a gang responsible for terrorising communities across Katsina, Zamfara, Niger and Kwara States, and reportedly supply firearms to other criminal networks.
They are cooperating with investigators to enable the arrest of other gang members and recovery of more weapons.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reiterated the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
The Police have urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
