No Cause for Alarm, Buhari Reassures Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has explained his prolonged stay in London as he thanked Nigerians today for all their prayers and good wishes.

The President expressed appreciation to those who are praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country.

His message was conveyed by the Special Adviser on Media, Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement released early today.

His words: “President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country.

“The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern.

“President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.

“During his normal annual check-up, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.”

President Buhari began his vacation on January 19, in London, where he also planned to conduct some routine medical checks.  He was expected to return to work on February 6.

On February 5, he notified the Nigerian Senate that he needed more time based on the advice of his doctors, while awaiting the results of some tests.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been acting on his behalf.

  • There is no crime in a president going on vacation or receiving medical treatment if required but the problem I have with the whole soap opera being displayed in the last few months is the fact that, a president can address a nation from any part of the world just to lay to rest the unending riddles.
I feel some people or the so called advisers are using the president absence for selfish and and financial reasons best known to them.
I wish Mr. President soonest recovery.
