The Chairman of the 2024 Conference Planning Committee, Danlami Nmodu (mni), confirmed this in a statement released by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Sir Remmy Nweke. He also noted that earlier partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Emadeb Group, and Dangote Group. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Reverton Hotel, GRA, Lokoja, Kogi State.
Other notable partners, Nmodu added, include the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Setraco Nigeria Limited, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Access Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Fidelity Bank Plc, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (STI), Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), and the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), among others.
The conference will focus on the theme “Nigeria: Tackling Insecurity, Power Deficit, and Transitioning to a Digital Economy”, with former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, delivering the keynote address.
Nmodu highlighted that one of the key moments of the 2024 conference will be the business luncheon with GOCOP partners on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the same venue, while the main conference, open to the public, will take place on Thursday, October 3.
The event will be chaired by former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman, with guest speakers including former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd), and Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida. The panelists will feature Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, a Political Science professor at the Federal University Lokoja, and veteran broadcaster and edutainment communicator, Ms. Debrah M. Ogazuma.
Nmodu fondly recalled the 2023 GOCOP conference, which was chaired by JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, while the keynote speaker was Nigeria’s first Professor of Capital Market, Prof. Uchenna Joseph Uwaleke.
Previous keynote speakers at GOCOP’s annual conferences include Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, who in 2019 delivered a lecture on “Economy, Security, and National Development: The Way Forward”.
