In a major boost to security and healthcare in Lagos State, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) have donated vehicles, including a specialized intensive care unit (ICU) ambulance.
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) received two vehicles to enhance security operations, while the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, was given the ambulance to improve emergency medical response. The donations underscore NNPC-SNEPCo’s commitment to social investment and community support.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, SNEPCo’s Country Security Manager, Isaac Akinjogunla, representing Managing Director Ronald Adams, emphasized the importance of the initiative.
“This donation underscores our support for efforts by the Lagos State Government to ensure security in the state,” he said, urging proper maintenance of the vehicles for long-term benefits to residents.
Engr. Oluwaseyi Omotowa, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), represented by Deputy Manager, External Relations, Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, highlighted the broader impact of the donation.
“By enhancing the operational capacity of security agencies, these vehicles will contribute to a safer environment for all residents. This donation complements our ongoing support in education and healthcare sectors within the state, reflecting our holistic approach to social investment.”
Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, expressed appreciation for the gesture, reaffirming the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering security and economic growth.
“Together, we can work towards a safer and more secure environment where our businesses continue to thrive and our loved ones are safe,” he said.
NNPC-SNEPCo had previously donated 16 vehicles to Lagos security efforts in 2020.

In the healthcare sector, SNEPCo’s Safety and Environment Manager, David Aghaiyo, who handed over the ICU ambulance on behalf of Managing Director Ronald Adams, noted its crucial role in strengthening emergency medical services.
“The ambulance supports the broader healthcare infrastructure within the community by facilitating quick transportation and medical care,” he said.
Dr. Adedamola Dada, Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, described the ambulance as an “answered prayer,” noting its significance in managing the large number of patients requiring emergency medical services.
NNPC-SNEPCo’s social investment initiatives, backed by co-venturers Total Energies, Exxon, and Nigerian Agip Exploration, span education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. These include scholarships, ICT centres, digital libraries, health projects, and the Shell LiveWIRE scheme for youth entrepreneurship.
