The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reaffirmed that forging strategic partnerships is essential to unlocking value, driving sustainability, and accelerating commercialization across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, made this known at the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week, organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja. Ojulari, represented by Mr. Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice President, Downstream, said the sector’s future rests on collaboration and coordinated investment.

“The opportunity to create a sustainable economy for today and the future is hinged on supply partnership, infrastructure co-investments, security partnerships, host community cooperation, and operational alliances,” Ojulari noted. “Everyone needs to get involved in the activities that will ultimately create a sustainably promising future for Nigeria.”

Ojulari described Nigeria’s downstream landscape as one defined by transition, opportunity, and strategic reform, stressing that collaboration among stakeholders is crucial for building a sustainable energy future.
He noted that as Africa’s energy demand continues to grow, Nigeria must lead through collective responsibility, innovation, and policy coherence to ensure inclusive and long-term sectoral development.

On domestic operations, the NNPC boss reiterated the company’s unwavering commitment to ensuring steady fuel supply, competitive pricing, and quality assurance across its retail network nationwide. He emphasized that NNPC remains focused on guaranteeing energy security and advancing partnerships that support downstream market stability.

Ojulari also commended the National Assembly and the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) for organizing the strategic forum, noting that such stakeholder engagements are essential for fostering innovation and addressing the challenges facing the downstream segment.

Themed “Celebrating Our Successes, Confronting Our Challenges, and Finding Solutions for the Petroleum Downstream Sector,” the forum attracted industry players, regulators, and legislators committed to shaping Nigeria’s energy future.
