The management of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies has confirmed an attempted security breach around the Institute in the early hours of today, assuring participants, staff and residents that the situation has been fully contained.
NewsmakersNG reported a late night attack that claimed three lives of security personnel.
In an internal security advisory issued today, the Institute said security personnel swiftly responded to the incident, restoring calm within and around the nation’s foremost policy and strategic studies institution located in Kuru, Plateau State.
The statement, signed by Dr. Osime Samuel mni, Head of the Public Affairs Department, disclosed that security agencies have intensified surveillance across the area as a precautionary measure.
“The situation was promptly contained through the swift intervention of security personnel, and normalcy has since been restored,” the statement read.
Management urged members of the NIPSS community to remain calm and continue their normal activities, stressing that there was no immediate threat to lives or property within the Institute.
Residents and participants were, however, advised to stay vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to relevant security authorities.
The Institute further stated that it is collaborating closely with security agencies to monitor developments and ensure the continued safety of all participants, staff, residents and visitors.
NIPSS management also cautioned against the spread of unverified information on social media and other platforms, noting that official updates would only be communicated through approved Institute channels.
