Twelve outstanding players in Nigeria’s online space have been unveiled as nominees for honours at the maiden Nigerian Online Merit Award (NiOMA) on July 13, 2018, at the Main Hall of Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.
A statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by NiOMA Organising Committee Chairman, Mr Lanre Alabi, identified some of the nominees as Honourable Minister for Communications, Barr. Adebayo Shittu; Africa’s Serial Digital Entrepreneur, Leo Stan Ekeh; and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State. Others, according to the statement, are Akwa Ibom State, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), three banks (Zenith, Fidelity and Access), as well as three national dailies, namely, Vanguard, The Guardian and Daily Trust.
The event, according to the statement, would feature a Lecture by Leo Stan Ekeh that will critically X-ray topical ICT issues facing the Nigerian nation and highlight how the online revolution could be leveraged to leapfrog the country’s development.
“The event, which starts at 6 pm and will be a celebration of some of the key drivers of the Nigerian internet revolution. It will be chaired by former Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Ernest Ndukwe, and will witness the unveiling of the all-gloss NIOMA Infotech Trends magazine,” Alabi said.
He assured that the event “will be a grand one as it will attract senior executives, top government functionaries, industry leaders, market analysts, professional groups and diverse economy sectoral leaders, among others”.
