Nigeria’s foreign affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The minister confirmed this in a tweet today.
Onyeama said he was confirmed positive yesterday, after his fourth test.
“Did my fourth Covid-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19”, the minister wrote.
So far, 36,107 people have been confirmed positive for the virus in Nigeria out of which 14,938 people have recovered and have been discharged while 778 have died.
Lagos remains the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria with over a third (13,341) of the total cases.
