Social media was thrown into excitement after an X user, @tundeskie, penned a dramatic love proposal to Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, daughter of billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola.
The post, written in poetic, music-themed language, followed Cuppy’s earlier tweet about her sister Temi Otedola’s wedding to singer Mr Eazi, which she described as “the wedding of the century.”
Riding on that wave of romance, @tundeskie publicly declared his affection, promising to wear “a pink suit and everything pink” for their wedding if Cuppy would give him a chance.
His heartfelt declaration instantly became a trending conversation, with Nigerians flooding the comments with humour, sarcasm, and even encouragement.
While some admired his courage, others joked about the audacity of proposing to a billionaire’s daughter on social media.
One user, @dr_uzzi, quipped, “This guy is bold sha. Billionaire’s daughter? Pink suit won’t save you o, better go with a pink bank alert.” Another, @AdaTheFirst, wrote, “If love was Grammy category, bros just submitted his nomination.” For @OgbeniAyomide, Cuppy deserved to give him a chance because, in his words, “We can’t be recycling the same Lagos big boys.”
There was also some sarcasm from @MissNenye, who laughed, “Lmao, he said she’s the whole playlist. Bros, na playlist you go chop?” Similarly, @Chief_Kelz appealed directly to the DJ, saying, “Dear @cuppymusic, please consider this man. If not for love, at least for content.”
Adding a creative twist, @TheRealFola likened the proposal to a job application, saying, “This is the kind of CV HRs should accept. Pink Suit Energy. Hire him as in-law now.” But @OyinboPepper teased the admirer about his intentions, joking, “You sef dey find Otedola-in-law visa? Join the queue, my guy.”
Not everyone was dismissive, though. @OdogwuSlim saluted his boldness, noting, “I salute your courage. Naija men fear rejection, but you shoot your shot at a billionaire’s child. Respect!” Others leaned into humor, with @GloriaSpeaks suggesting, “DJ Cuppy please just reply him with ‘gelato’ so he knows where he stands.” And in perhaps the cheekiest take, @ToluTalks remarked, “Baba wrote full album just to propose. Even Temi no hear this kind thing from Mr Eazi.”
For now, Cuppy has not publicly responded to the proposal.
