The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE), a division of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Oyo State Chapter, has held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and induction ceremony for new members at the NSE Ibadan Secretariat, Kolapo Isola GRA, Akobo, Ibadan.
Among the new inductees was Olugbenga Oso (Jnr.), a graduate of Architecture and practicing construction entrepreneur, who serves as Principal Partner and Chief Executive of Black Atelier Spaces Limited. Oso was inducted as an Affiliate Member of NISafetyE at the event on Saturday.
Chapter Chairman Engr. Oladayo Awodele, MNSE, conducted the induction, welcoming a total of 45 new members into various categories. The ceremony also featured special recognition awards given to six distinguished engineers for their significant contributions to the safety advocacy of the state chapter. One of the awardees was the guest speaker, Engr. (Dr.) Wasiu Ajagbe, Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Environmental Engineers (NIEE). Dr. Ajagbe delivered an insightful paper titled “Extreme Weather Events & Construction Safety.”
The Ibadan and Ogbomosho branches of the Nigerian Society of Engineers also received special recognition awards. National Chairman Engr. Oluseun Faluyi, FNSE, who chaired the occasion, traveled from Lagos to induct the new members into the Institute.
The day’s activities also included the election of new executive members of the Institute.
Speaking to reporters, new inductee Gbenga Oso (Jnr.) expressed gratitude to the organizers and state executives, emphasizing the importance of incorporating safety culture codes into all design and construction projects, a principle he upholds at his growing company.
