Nigerian Girl, Ruti, Wins 2018 Voice UK Won by Nigerian Guy in 2017

Nigerian girl, Ruti Olajugbagbe, has repeated history with her victory at the 2018 edition of The Voice UK won by her compatriot, Mo Adeniran, last year.

Ruti, a singing sensation at the competition emerged victorious over another hot favourite, Donel Mangena.

The final was hosted by Emma Willis on Saturday,.

Coaches, Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am, were live in the studio and saw their acts go head-to-head.

But after both Lauren Bannon and Belle Voice bowed out it was left for Donel and Ruti to sing off once more.

And when the final votes came in, Emma announced Ruti as the 2018 winner.

The Voice 2018 was described as one of the fiercest competitions in the show’s history, with some serious talents going head-to-head.

Who is Ruti Olajugbagbe?

According to The Sun, Ruti is a student and part-time carer from South-end-on-Sea. Ruti lives with her mum, dad and little brother, Femi, and currently attends the Youth Creation Performing Arts School in Stanford-le-Hope.
Ruti performs covers of songs including ‘Latch’ and ‘Use Somebody’ for her YouTube channel and enjoys mixing songs together.
Ruti has said she was influenced by bands such as Bastille and Arctic Monkeys as well as singer Emeli Sande and in 2013, sang in the final of Thurrock’s young musician of the year.
After a powerful rendition of George Ezra’s Budapest, Tom Jones chose her to be part of his team.
Ruti battled past Saskia Eng before her cover of Dreams in the Knockouts earned her a spot in the live semi-finals.
Her performance of the classic, Waiting For A Star To Fall sealed her spot in the final.
