Nigerian Content Creator Undergoes Corrective Leg Surgery in Egypt with Davido-led Crowdfunding

• Afrobeat star’s N3m donation helped push fundraiser past N20m target

Nigerian content creator, David Obadiah, better known as Baddy of Lagos, has successfully undergone the first stage of corrective surgery for his bow legs after previous procedures in Nigeria failed.

His access to this surgery was made possible through a crowdfunding drive on X that raised over N20 million.

The campaign was led by influencer, Sir Dickson and was given a major boost when Afrobeats star, Davido donated N3 million, a gift that helped push the total past its target.

The surgery, which lasted seven hours, was performed on his right leg in Egypt.

Doctors say they could not operate on both legs at once because the left leg will require a more complex process involving two separate surgeries.

Baddy is currently recovering under medical supervision and will return for the second set of surgeries once he has fully healed.

Supporters say this case highlights how social media and collective fundraising can drive life-changing interventions.

“Jesus! @davido sent me 3m for my correctional surgery. God bless you sir… my idolo,” Baddy posted on X after receiving Davido’s donation.

Sir Dickson also shared the update, saying that the donation from Davido and the outpouring of support pushed the fundraiser to over ₦22 million.

Many Nigerians have reacted with admiration. One user, @VicTooSoft, wrote, “Thank you, Davido for always showing love and lifting people without making noise. Your heart is golden, your impact is loud.”

Another, @Daddyzee02, said, “We can’t wait for the after because we have seen the before. Successful surgery ahead.”

This surgery marks a significant milestone in Obadiah’s health journey, with many Nigerians following his recovery closely and rallying support ahead of his second operation.
