The Federal Government has launched a suite of digital platforms for the Office of the Tax Ombud Nigeria in a major move aimed at strengthening fairness, transparency, and accountability in the nation’s tax administration system.

The unveiling ceremony, held in Abuja yesterday, brought together top government officials and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s fiscal and governance sectors.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a more transparent and efficient tax administration framework capable of enhancing public trust and improving fiscal governance.

According to the minister, ongoing reforms in the tax sector are already yielding measurable gains, with the government determined to deepen accountability and fairness in dealings between tax authorities and taxpayers.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of the official website, toll-free call centre, and case management system of the Office of the Tax Ombud Nigeria, led by Dr. John C. Nwabueze.

The minister described the Tax Ombud institution as a critical mechanism for resolving disputes, improving taxpayer confidence, and ensuring the speedy handling of complaints involving tax authorities across the country.

The event also attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, as well as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack.

Observers say the introduction of the digital platforms could significantly improve access to tax-related complaint resolution services while supporting the Tinubu administration’s broader reforms aimed at modernising Nigeria’s fiscal governance architecture.
