Nigeria will strengthen diplomatic ties with the government and people of Vanuatu in the area of commerce and other relations.

Vanuatu, with Port Vila as capital, is a South Pacific Ocean nation made up of roughly 80 islands that stretch 1,300 kilometres with less than 350,000 population.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Australia, Amb. Bello Husseini-Kazaure gave the assurance after presenting his letter of Credence to the President of Vanuatu, Obed Moses Tallis.

The ceremony, which took place at Vanuatu’s State House, was performed by the country’s Acting President Esmon Saimon on behalf of the President.

Kazaure is Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Australia with concurrent accreditation to New Zealand, Fiji Island, Independent State of Papua New Guinea and the Republic of Vanuatu.

The envoy applauded the cordial bilateral relations between Nigeria and Vanuatu, stressing that focus would be on enhancing relations in trade and investment

He said that efforts would be geared towards economic development by attracting investors from the country to Nigeria and vice-versa.
