Five persons, including a newly-wedded wife, have been confirmed dead in an accident involving a truck and a commercial bus along Abeokuta-Ibadan highway yesterday night.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the groom and seven other passengers were injured in the accident, while two persons escaped unhurt.
The Madza Bus marked MUS 367 XU, was reportedly conveying passengers from Ibadan to Abeokuta when the accident happened around 9.30pm.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun State, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident.
The TRACE PRO disclosed that a truck with registration number LAR 114YD and a yellow bus were involved in the accident.
He said the accident was caused by loss of control and over speeding on the part of the truck driver, who according to him ran into potholes and lost control.
He said 15 persons who comprised of 11 males and four females were involved in the accident. He added that two persons survived unhurt while eight persons, comprising two females and six males were injured.
NewsmakersNG also learnt that the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the survivors were also receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
