Sweden’s newly appointed Health Minister, Elisabet Lann, fainted during her inaugural press conference today.
The incident occurred in Stockholm as Lann was being introduced to the media alongside Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and fellow cabinet members.
Mid-speech, she suddenly slumped forward, knocking over the lectern.
Party leader Ebba Busch reacted immediately, laying Lann in the recovery position, while others supported her evacuation from the room.
Moments later, Lann returned and explained, “This was not exactly a normal Tuesday, and this is what can happen when you have a blood sugar drop.”
Observers described the moment as dramatic.
According to BNO News, Lann appeared unconscious after hitting her head but quickly recovered and returned to the stage, visibly uninjured.
Lann stepped into the role of Health Minister on September 9, 2025, replacing Acko Ankarberg Johansson following her sudden resignation.
With a track record as a municipal commissioner in Gothenburg, Lann has indicated her intention to expand government oversight of healthcare to reduce waiting times.
