Bachelor’s degree and Higher National Diploma certificate holders have emerged the majority among those jostling to fill the vacancy for Constables recently announced by the police.
Constable is the entry level into the Rank and File of the Police Force and is usually reserved for Secondary School Certificate holders.
This was disclosed by the Head, Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) of the police, Mr Abayomi Shogunle, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), in a Twitter post.
He attributed the development to the increase in the salary and housing allowance of the police recently announced by the Federal Government.
Shogunle’s tweet reads: “Bachelor’s degree/HND holders are rushing to join NPF as Constables. Graduates eager about recruitment meant for ‘O’ Level holders. Could it be the recent news on ‘New Salary Structure For Nigeria Police’. From 2020 in England & Wales, all police recruits will require a degree.”
