As November is about to end, the Publishers of NewsmakersNG have been inundated with telephone calls from policemen anxious to receive upgraded salaries and rent allowances approved by the Federal Government, as reported exclusively by the online newspaper.
Most of the calls and enquiries from NewsmakersNG Facebook page came from the eastern and north-central parts of Nigeria.
Google has also reported huge search by officers seeking more information on the proposed pay package, using Search Engine Terms including ‘police salary’, ‘police to enjoy Christmas’, ‘newsmakers on police new approved salary’ and ‘Buhari top up police salary’.
One of the excited policemen called NewsmakersNG promising to buy N1000 recharge card for the publishers if the dream comes true.
Most of them wanted to know if President Muhammadu Buhari would actually make this year’s Christmas different as reported by the newspaper.
NewsmakersNG had reported on November 8 that a new salary structure with rent subsidy has been approved for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) by the Federal Government.

According to the Presidency, the approval took effect from November 1, 2018, and would be funded from the treasury, indicating that policemen would have a merry Christmas.
Police authorities are yet to say if they would comply with the directive from the Federal Government this month.
News of the new package from President Buhari, coming 10 years after the late President Umaru Yar’Adua increased police salaries, was conveyed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris through a letter from the Office of the Executive Chairman, National Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission, High Chief Richard Onwuka Egbule.
