The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to digital policing and cybercrime prevention following a strategic visit by a delegation from the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) to its Abuja headquarters.
The delegation, led by NECA’s Director-General, Mr. Wale-Smatt Oyerinde, toured the facility and engaged the police cybercrime team in discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration in Nigeria’s fight against cyber threats and digital crimes.
According to the police, the visit built on earlier engagements between NECA leadership and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and reflected growing confidence in the NPF-NCCC as a key institution in Nigeria’s cybercrime response architecture.
The delegation reportedly inspected the Centre’s operations and commended the professionalism, dedication and operational capacity of officers and men of the cybercrime unit.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, the Director of the NPF-NCCC, CP Akaninyene Ezima, said the Nigeria Police Force was taking proactive steps to shape the future of digital policing in the country.
He noted that under the leadership of IGP Disu, the Force was actively investing in technology-driven policing and building stronger partnerships to tackle emerging cyber threats.
Ezima also appreciated the NECA delegation for its willingness to support the Centre’s initiatives and deepen collaboration with the police in securing Nigeria’s digital space.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the Inspector-General of Police remained committed to strengthening the NPF-NCCC and enhancing cooperation with stakeholders in the fight against cybercrime.
He assured Nigerians that the Centre would continue to evolve and lead efforts to safeguard the nation’s cyberspace.
