The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, has reportedly been arrested by military intelligence operatives over allegations linking him to the financing of an attempted coup against President Bola Tinubu.
According to multiple media reports, Ogbuku is being interrogated for allegedly transferring a huge sum of money to former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.
The transfer, estimated at about N20 billion, was said to have originated from a shoreline protection contract valued at over N54 billion awarded by the NDDC.
Citing military intelligence sources, The Punch reported that investigators were working on the theory that the fund transfer was connected to the alleged coup financing, adding that Ogbuku “is presently answering questions about what the money was meant for.”
Reports also indicated that the NDDC boss was taken into custody as part of a wider investigation into the source and use of the alleged funds.
The N20 billion mobilisation payment from the shoreline contract was reportedly traced to accounts linked to Sylva, who is also under investigation.
However, the military authorities have yet to release an official statement confirming the arrest or providing further details about the alleged plot.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Ogbuku nor the NDDC has issued a public response to the allegations.

NDDC is funding coup plot. The MD should be arrested. Him own too much. He is no different from sylva.
This is one of sylvas brought up. So does the government think he is not paying his boss for the good? He must always be loyal to sylva. Ogbuku being there, sylva is getting his cut. Nddc contracts all goes to sylvas companies with large sums of money in billions. Tinubu should tackle this loophole. Sack him and arrest him
