The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Moses Adediran Adegbite, father of two senior Methodist clerics, Bishop Stephen Adegbite and Bishop Solomon Abayomi Adegbite.

Chief Adegbite, a respected community leader and devout Christian from Fiditi in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State, died in the early hours of Friday, at the age of 86.

His passing was first announced in a heartfelt message by his son, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, who described the family’s grief but also expressed gratitude for the fulfilment and impact of his father’s life.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission. He is also the Chaplain of the State House Aso Villa Chapel in Abuja and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter.

His brother, Bishop Solomon Abayomi Adegbite, is the Bishop of the Methodist Diocese of Ago Iwoye in Ogun State.

In an official statement issued on Friday, NCPC described Chief Adegbite as a man of humility, service, and unwavering devotion to God, noting that his contributions to the Fiditi community and the Church would remain unforgettable.

The Commission conveyed its condolences to Bishop Stephen Adegbite and the wider Adegbite family, praying for divine comfort and strength.

“We are saddened by the passing of Chief Moses Adediran Adegbite, father of our Executive Secretary,” the NCPC stated. “We pray that the Good Lord grants the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss and that Chief Adegbite’s soul rests peacefully in the Lord.”

Messages of sympathy continue to flow from the Church community, the Fiditi homeland, and across Nigeria, as friends, clerics, and well-wishers remember a man many described as principled, prayerful, and committed to service.
