The Nigerian Bar Association today said it still recognised Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The body also ordered its members across the country to boycott courts tomorrow and Wednesday in protest against President Muhammadu Buhari’s suspension of Onnoghen and the swearing in of Justice Tanko Mohammed as the acting CJN on Friday.
The NBA announced the decision at the end of an emergency meeting of it’s National Executive Committee comprising its branch chairmen, past presidents and the executive committee of the association.
It insisted that due process was not followed by Buhari in suspending Onnoghen and swearing in Muhammed in acting capacity.
The meeting also resolved to set up a committee led by former presidents of the association, Chief Wole Olanipekun and Abubakar Mahmud, to liaise with lawyers in government to find a solution to the imbroglio.
