Occupants of a truck narrowly escaped death, even as casualty figure rose to 30 in the collapse of a motorway bridge in Genoa, Italy this morning.
The green-coloured lorry was pictured perched at the brink of the collapsed section of the bridge, with several other stranded but lucky motorists lining up behind it.
Also, Italy’s Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, said that “around 30” people had been killed in the incident which occurred during a fierce storm.
“Unfortunately there are around 30 dead and many injured in a serious condition,” Salvini told reporters in the Sicilian city of Catania.
Earlier reports said 22 people, including a baby, were killed.
Cars fell 300ft along with tonnes of twisted steel and concrete debris into a river, railroad tracks and an industrial zone below when the Morandi bridge gave way at 11.30am local time.
