The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed Iliyasu received an August visitor Wednesday as the newly appointed Lagos Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Mr. Daniel Atokolo, made a courtesy call at Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters, Onikan in Lagos.
According to Zone 2 Police spokesperson, DSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, the visit was geared towards synergy and concerted efforts between NAPTIP and the Nigeria Police in dealing effectively with multifaceted nature of crime of human trafficking.
Adamu stated: “The Commander in retinue of officers was ushered into the office of the AIG where proper introduction of the Zonal management team and the Commander’s entourage took place.
“The Commander stated reason for the courtesy visit; which is the sustenance of the existing synergy between the agencies while the AIG in his response; reiterate the commitment and readiness of the Zone to synergize and collaborate with NAPTIP in ensuring partnership towards tackling the hydra-headed menace of the crime of human trafficking, child labour, slavery and other gender offences that have become multifaceted and transnational; using the veritable tool of Community Policing Strategy of problem-solving and to maintain a good work relationship, the visit was drawn to an end amidst group photographs.”
