The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has applauded the Ogun State Police Command for what it described as a swift, coordinated, and intelligence-driven operation that led to the successful rescue of five abducted students of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapade.

In a statement issued by its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, the student body expressed relief and appreciation over the outcome of the rescue mission, commending the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, for what it called a decisive and professional response to the incident.

According to NANS, the prompt action of the police and the tactical efficiency demonstrated by the operatives underscore a strong commitment to the protection of lives and property in Ogun State.

The association particularly highlighted the role of specialised formations, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SWAT, and other response teams, whose coordinated efforts ensured the safe recovery of the victims despite the high-risk circumstances surrounding the operation.

“This operation sends a clear and unmistakable signal to criminal elements that acts of lawlessness will not go unchecked,” the statement noted, adding that the success of the mission reinforces public confidence in the capacity of security agencies to respond effectively to emerging threats.

While applauding the breakthrough, NANS urged the police to sustain the momentum by intensifying efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, stressing that justice must be served to deter future crimes.

The student body also called on students and members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information that could aid crime prevention and rapid response.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and safety of Nigerian students nationwide, NANS pledged continued support for lawful initiatives aimed at strengthening security across campuses and surrounding communities.
