The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 transport aircraft, which earlier made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, has safely resumed its journey.
In an official update issued today, the aircraft departed Bobo-Dioulasso in the evening and arrived safely in Accra, Ghana, in line with an updated flight plan. The aircraft is now preparing for onward movement to Portugal, with scheduled stopovers in Banjul and Casablanca, for its planned depot maintenance.
The aircraft had drawn public attention after it made an unscheduled precautionary landing in Burkina Faso while en route for routine maintenance outside Nigeria. The development triggered speculation and widespread concern on social media, with unverified claims suggesting that the aircraft may have been detained or grounded by authorities in the host country.
The Air Force explained that the landing in Burkina Faso was precautionary and carried out in strict adherence to established aviation safety protocols, stressing that the aircraft remained serviceable throughout the period.
“All personnel on board are safe, the aircraft is serviceable, and the Nigerian Air Force continues to operate to the highest standards of safety and professionalism,” the statement says.
The NAF also appreciated the concern and support expressed by members of the public, noting that the update was issued to clarify reports and reassure Nigerians of the Service’s commitment to safety, transparency and operational excellence.
The statement was signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
