A sister to Precious Owolabi, the Channels TV reporter, who was killed during the clash between Shi’ites and the police in Abuja on Monday, Bera Owolabi, has been mourning his late brother in a series of posts on Twitter.
Bera disclosed that herself and the deceased were together on the Sunday night preceding his death and even spoke on the phone shortly before he was fatally shot.
She said they had also planned to meet up after work on the fateful only for her to learn of his death.
She also tweeted the picture she took with the deceased on Sunday night.
Bera tweeted: “My cheerleader, my everything. This was Sunday night and I still spoke to you Monday morning, we were supposed to meet up after work only for your office bag to be delivered to me. The corpse was just brought home to Zaria. Thank you for your kind words, he will rest on.”
Also lamenting his brother’s death in another tweet, Vera wrote: “My brother is trending for being dead.”
She disclosed in another tweet that Precious would be buried at 11am. tomorrow at Wusasa, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The deceased was covering the protest by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, which degenerated into a bloody clash with the police, when he was reportedly hit by a stray bullet.
Precious was a member of the National Youth Service Corps undergoing his mandatory one year national service at the Abuja office of the TV station.
