The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a 39-year-old senior officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi, and her teenage daughter, Sewa, has taken a horrifying turn as mutilated body parts suspected to be theirs were discovered at the residence of a suspected herbalist in Osun State.
According to The PUNCH, the grim discovery was revealed over the weekend after a Facebook user, Ayomideji Solanke, who is familiar with the family, shared an update on the case.
SRC Lasisi and her daughter were declared missing on Sunday, November 2, after leaving their home at the Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and failing to return.
Lasisi, a Superintendent Route Commander, was a fourth-level senior operational officer in the FRSC, responsible for overseeing multiple routes and coordinating strategic enforcement operations.
Efforts by family members and colleagues to reach the officer and her daughter on their mobile phones had initially proved unsuccessful.
In his Facebook update, Solanke said a family source disclosed that the remains of the missing officer and her daughter were found in the home of a traditional healer in an undisclosed community in Osun State.
He wrote: “The mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Federal Road Safety Corps officer, SRC Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her young daughter, Sewa, has taken a tragic turn as their remains were reportedly discovered in the home of a suspected herbalist in Osun State.”
Solanke added that while the herbalist’s wife had been arrested, the main suspect had fled.
Confirming the development, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, told The PUNCH in a telephone interview on Tuesday that operatives of the Osun State Police Command had made arrests in connection with the killings.
According to him, some exhibits suspected to be body parts of the missing officer and her daughter were recovered at the scene.
He said, “The Osun Command has commenced investigation, and they have made some arrests. They found some exhibits that are body parts. For convenience’s sake, Osun will be investigating the matter, and we will be lending the necessary support. The suspect is with them.”
Police investigations are ongoing as the search for the fleeing herbalist continues.
