A Nigerian mother is mourning the gruesome murder of her billionaire son in mysterious circumstances barely 48 hours after celebrating him on his 50th birthday.

The mother, Sylvia Ataga, in a Facebook post on June 17 had celebrated her son, Usifo Ataga, on his golden birthday, describing him as her source of happiness.

The apparently joyful mum had written in her post: “Happy golden birthday to my son, Usifo. My son who gives me joy. May the rest of your life remain golden & all your lines fall in place. You are loved beyond measure & my prayer for you today is that God will take control of all your endeavours. The son who makes me happy! Congratulations on this milestone & God’s blessings always.”

Unknown to her, Usifo’s lifeless body was being recovered from an Airbnb accommodation in Lekki 1, Lagos, about the same time she was putting up the post celebrating his golden birthday.

The deceased had reportedly been missing since June 13, before his body was discovered with multiple stab wounds, on June 17, by the police and his immediate family.

While reacting to a comment on her earlier post today, the deceased’s mother, lamented her son’s murder. She noted that she had not yet been told about his death when she celebrated him on his birthday.

She stated, “Thanks Adaku. True I was not aware of his demise when I posted this. It is the same Usifo! They murdered my son.”

According to reports, Usifo, who was the CEO of Super TV and a director of Super Network Limited, was reported missing on Sunday by his wife and children, who reside in Abuja, after he couldn’t be found at both his Victoria Island office and Banana Island residence. He could not also be reached on phone.

His murder was suspected to have been orchestrated by a lady he met two weeks earlier and with whom he reportedly checked into the Lekki flat.

She is suspected to have drugged the deceased before stabbing him multiple times.

Security guards at the rentals reportedly claimed that no one else visited Usifo and his female companion, aside from a dispatch rider who brought some drugs for the lady.

In the days following his murder, several withdrawals, totalling N5 million, were also reportedly made from his account.

The lady, who was last seen on Tuesday, when the murder reportedly took place, has been tracked down and arrested.

Other suspects in custody include the owner of the Airbnb and the security guards.
