The new Lagos commissioner of police (CP), Zubairu Mu’azu, received high ratings today after his first assignment of ensuring a hitch-free hosting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in the state.
Mu’azu who assumed office yesterday had just a few hours to rejig the security architecture in Lagos, as he summoned all senior police officers under his command for an emergency meeting at the state headquarters in Ikeja.
Officers at the meeting told NewsmakersNG that the result of the effort manifested in the successful hosting of the political campaign and stop-bye visit of President Muhammadu Buhari and his entourage today.
Buhari had earlier, according to his schedule, called on Oba Rilwanu Osualale Akiolu of Lagos, before moving to the Lagos State government house, Marina, for a closed-door meeting with several groups, including senior party officials, state party members, stakeholders, security chiefs, captains of industries, senior civil servants, top brass in blue-chip companies, the Pan Yoruba cultural group, Afenifere, members of the Hausa community and the Igbo socio-cultural group, Oha’neze Ndigbo, before heading for Teslim Balogun stadium to address a mammoth crowd of party supporters.

Buhari, in his campaign, promised to reposition Lagos as a befitting mega city and strengthen it as the economic nerve-centre of the nation
This, he noted, would fast track the much-needed development of the country
He promised to fast track the city to become a cosmopolitan city, assuring of a promising economic prospect, based on massive infrastructural and economic development if re-elected.
He also pledged to further strengthen the naira and fight corruption with all it takes.
Buhari said that those who looted the commonwealth would face the full wrath of the law.
