A teenage girl, identifying herself as Anu Adeleke, has publicly appealed to Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to submit to a DNA test, saying she wants clarity about her identity as she comes of age.
In a lengthy New Year post dated January 15, 2026, shared via an Instagram account bearing the handle anuadeleke001, the teenager said she was respectfully requesting a DNA test between herself and Davido, whom she described as her father.
“I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke, singer @davido, for a DNA test to establish my identity,” she wrote. “This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is something that’s the right thing to do.”
In the emotional post, Anu said she recently became a teenager and decided to speak out personally, stressing that the message was written without assistance.
“Today I drafted a letter I wrote from the depth of my heart, not with help from my relatives. As I grow older I want to establish my identity,” she said.
She alleged that growing up with the Adeleke surname exposed her to bullying from a young age.
“I was bullied in school since I was 6-years-old and cried home daily. Other students laughed at me when I told them my father was Mr David Adeleke,” she wrote.
According to her account, the experience took a toll on her mental health.
“I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health. It was a sad challenging time in my life.”
Anu credited her upbringing to the guidance of her mother and grandmother, whom she said instilled discipline and values in her.
“My mom and grandma have always educated me on being a responsible teen. No drugs, alcohol, bad company and bad behaviour,” she wrote.
She also stated that despite the challenges, she excelled academically.
“Despite the challenges, I still excelled to the top of the class and became the class prefect,” she said, adding that some of her report cards had previously been shared online.
She noted that as she advanced to secondary school, she stopped speaking publicly about her family background.
“Now that I’m in secondary school and still excelling in my studies, I don’t talk about my family history anymore,” the post read.
The teenager said she had also sent the request privately to Davido.
“Please sir, consider my request once you read this post. I also sent it to your DM,” she wrote.
She concluded by thanking Nigerians who, according to her, have supported her emotionally over the years.
“Thank you to all Nigerians who have given me emotional support for the last 7 years. This DNA test is the right thing to do for me,” she added.
The post was signed “Anu Adeleke” and dated January 15, 2026, with Ibadan, Nigeria, listed as her location.
As of the time of reporting, Davido has not publicly responded to the claim or the request for a DNA test.
The singer, who is one of Africa’s most prominent music stars, has previously been linked to public paternity disputes, though no confirmation has been made in this case.
It remains unclear whether the account belongs directly to the teenager or is managed by an adult on her behalf.
