The police in Oyo State have arrested a 37-year-old commercial motorcyclist who allegedly beheaded a five-year-old boy and raped his 34-year-old mother.
The State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, disclosed this to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, yesterday.
Olukolu said the woman and her son boarded the suspect’s motorcycle from Oja-Oba market in Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa local council, on December 8, around 8pm.
He said instead of taking them to their destination, the suspect took the woman and her son to his house at Imeleke Road, Lawal Estate in Igbo-Ora, where he raped her three times during the night.
In the morning, the suspect then took the woman’s son to another room where he was beheaded.
Olukolu said, “The following day, the suspect took the woman’s son to another room and beheaded him with cutlass.
“He claimed to have dumped the remaining body at a nearby bush beside his house.
“The remaining body part was later recovered at the backyard of the suspect and deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital for autopsy.”
In an interview with journalists, the suspect claimed that the woman was his lover.
He said he did not know what strange force pushed him to behead the boy, and that he was not planning to use him for ritual.
The police also paraded 16 other suspects arrested for various offences including attempted kidnapping, armed robbery and impersonation.
