Two suspects have been arrested after the police in Katsina smashed a gang of armed robbers operating on motorbikes.

According to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Usman Abdullahi, the gang specialized in using motorbike to attack and rob their victims with dangerous weapons.

Newsmakers learnt from a statement issued by the state police spokesman, Isah Gambo that the gang was smashed on July 2, at about 9:45pm after a woman was robbed.

Gambo stated: “The suspects, one Abubakar Nura, 20, alias Garkuwa of Dutsen Amare quarters in Katsina and Ismail Usman, 19, of Behind Area Council, Tudun Wada quarters, Katsina, together with one other suspect now at large attacked a 38-year-old Hajiya Hasiya Mansir of Behind Rahusa Residence, Kofar Kaura Layout, Katsina State, with dangerous weapons. They robbed her of the sum of N50, 000, one Techno W3D valued at N30, 000, and one iPHONE 6 valued at N250, 000, as a result of which she sustained injury on her neck.  The two suspects have been arrested and have already confessed to the crime.  Investigation is ongoing, please.”
